Daylesford and District Historical Society Inc
Information: Daylesford and District Historical Society (founded 1961) is housed at the Daylesford Museum. The Society's primary aim is to collect, preserve, maintain and communicate the history of Daylesford and District. The Society aims to foster and encourage the interchange of information about Daylesford's inhabitants through family history research. The Society's Museum holds a very extensive collection of artefacts and memorabilia from Daylesford and District. The Museum is housed in the old School of Mines building, which has numerous rooms and displays. One of the most important is the Stanley Hammond Collection (world renowned sculptor who was educated in this building). Extensive family history resources are also available including mircofiche and microfilm records, CD records, cemetery listings and bound copies of local newspapers dating from the 1860s to the present day. Open 1.30pm to 4.30pm weekdays, public holidays and school holidays, or by appointment.
