Kenilworth & District Historical Association Inc
Information: The Association aims to study the history of the Kenilworth and adjoining districts in particular and of any other matter of general historic interest that may have relevance to such history or to the history of the State of Queensland or of the Commonwealth of Australia; the collection, preservation, exchange, sale or other appropriate handling of material for each study; the publication of historical documents, and early records of general public interest; the collection, preservation, exchange, purchase or other appropriate handling of items of property of public interest. In summary, to investigate all avenues of history, to preserve and promote the history of Kenilworth and District for the benefit of present and future generations, keep in perpetuity any document or object pertaining to such history of the Kenilworth District and enter into any project pertaining to the District’s history. Founded 1979.
Publications: ‘Hinka-Booma to Kenilworth: 1850 – 1950’ First compiled and published by The Kenilworth Centenary Celebrations Committee in 1950. Revised and published by Blair Meldrum in conjunction with the Kenilworth & District Historical Association Inc. in 2005.
Events: No annual events, but the Association does hold an ‘Open Day’ every 3 to 4 years, the last one being in 2005. In 2006 the Association is holding the inaugural World Pot Holder Making Competition, and details can be found on their website under ‘Competition’.
