Old Melbourne Gaol
Information: Victoria’s oldest surviving prison, the Old Melbourne Gaol houses some of Victoria’s most infamous prisoners. Outlaw Ned Kelly was amongst those incarcerated here and was one of 136 criminals hanged at the goal. Visitors can now gain an insight into the history of the gaol, viewing artefacts such as death masks, cat-of-nine-tails and the scaffold on which Ned Kelly was hanged on 11 November 1880. Night tours are also available. A National Trust property. Please visit the National Trust website for opening hours.
