Warracknabeal & District Historical Society - Historical Centre and Wheatlands Museum
Information: The Warracknabeal Historical Society operates two Museums - the Historical Centre in Scott Street and the Wheatlands Museum beside the Henty Highway. The Historical Centre is located in the old State Savings Bank building and houses the original bank chamber with many relics of the early banking era. The residence upstairs has many collections and memorabilia of the local area and its citizens. Also housed in this building are many records and photographs of the district including cemetery records, copies of the Warracknabeal Herald on microfiche and in bound copies as well as a myriad of other records used to research local history. Open during the afternoon on weekdays. The Wheatlands Museum houses one of the largest collections of Agricultural Equipment in Australia. The collection that is on display is in working order after being restored by the volunteers of the Society. The Museum is staffed by volunteers and opening times can vary, though they try to open 7 days a week.
Publications: 'The Warunda Review' is a regular newsletter produced 5 times per year. Editor - Mr Doug McColl.
Events: Easter Rally at the Wheatlands Museum. For 3 days over Easter the grounds of the Museum reverberate to the sound of old petrol and diesel motors coming back to life again.
